Dr. Sayers conducts research on global learning networks and multilingual literacy learning. He consults with ministries of education and local school districts on linking curriculum design with technology to promote intercultural learning and advance academic skills, especially primary language literacy and second language acquisition. His current research focuses on student lexicography among elementary school children in "two-way" bilingual immersion programs who are participating in a global learning network.

Dr. Sayers received his doctorate from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education in 1990. He is the co-author with Jim Cummins of Brave New Schools: Challenging Cultural Illiteracy through Global Learning Networks (St. Martin's Press, March 1997).
