Daniel Schugurensky vivió y trabajó en Argentina, México, Israel, Canadá y Estados Unidos. Desarrolló actividades de investigación y docencia en una variedad de instituciones educativas, tanto gubernamentales como no gubernamentales. Obtuvo su licenciatura en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, y el doctorado en la Universidad de Alberta, Canadá. Actualmente es profesor del Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) de la Universidad de Toronto. Antes de incorporarse a la Universidad de Toronto, se desempeñaba como profesor en la Escuela de Postgrado en Educación de la Universidad de California, Los Angeles, y como investigador asociado en el Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos de la misma entidad. Sus intereses actuales se centran en educación de adultos, educación superior, globalización y políticas educativas, especialmente en América Latina.

Daniel Schugurensky (Ph.D. University of Alberta, 1994), is currently an assistant professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto) and has extensive experience in educational research, teaching, and project coordination. He has worked in governmental, non-governmental and international organizations, and has taught and conducted research in several Latin American countries. Prior to joining OISE/UT, he was at the University of California at Los Angeles, where he worked as research associate at the Latin American Center and as a visiting assistant professor in the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.
His research interests cover four areas: a) adult education theories, policies and practices; b) economic globalization, state restructuring and educational change; c) popular education, citizenship and social movements; and d) university-community relationships. His teaching experience includes undergraduate and graduate courses in the sociology of education, politics of education, philosophical approaches to education and community development, education and social change, research methods, Latin American education, nonformal education in comparative perspective, and seminars on globalization, the state and education.
