The objective of this study is to determine the maker awareness of schools in Brazil and identify its potential for implementation in education. A survey-type field research with a quantitative-descriptive approach was carried out between July and September 2022. A sample of randomly selected innovative schools from basic education of Brazil was chosen. Data was collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using statistical methods. The results showed that schools need to give more credit to maker awareness to strategically advance current efficiencies and keep up with global convergence. Although evidence of differences in levels of awareness of maker concepts has been observed in different types of schools, there is potential for the development of maker initiatives that address the disconnects between schools in Brazil. This potential can be harnessed in an attempt to chart a path for maker implementation as an educational policy to transform the traditional model of schools in Brazil.
