This paper presents a comparative analysis of the situation of the right to secondary education in three Southern Cone countries (Argentina, Chile and Uruguay) in recent times (2000–2022) covering five dimensions: 1) availability, 2) accessibility, 3) school trajectories, 4) learning achievements, and 5) inequalities, as a cross-cutting dimension. It draws on different statistical sources managed by international organizations, previous academic studies and national governmental reports. The results indicate different progress and deficits in each of these dimensions, where the relative situation of each country is contrasted. These results are discussed in relation to specialized literature and explanatory hypotheses are explored.
