This article seeks to list the main internationalization strategies currently trending and carried out in Brazil through the “Science without Borders” (SwB) program. Through bibliographic and documentary research, we investigate the most profitable and prestigious strategies around the world and how the Brazilian initiative has been configured on the world stage. We observe that the current internationalization movement favors rich and northern countries, guaranteeing economic and political power to the prestigious welcoming universities. In the Brazilian case, despite being expensive and not well aligned with the main research demands, the program guaranteed student mobility and access to language teaching, possibilities that had been little promoted or poorly developed so far within Brazilian higher education.
