This article aims to analyze the composition of the National Education Council [NEC] in 2024, during the Lula administration, highlighting the partnerships and possible interests of those appointed. Qualitative and critical-documentary in nature, the analysis is based on the works of Caio Prado Júnior and Florestan Fernandes. The sources are composed of official documents available on the Ministry of Education [MEC] website, the resumes of the newly appointed councilors, which reveal these relationships, and Ordinance No. 609/2024, which disclosed the entities responsible for nominating names to the MEC. News related to the councilors and the entities investigated were also considered, in addition to the official websites of institutions such as Fundação Lemann, Fundação Roberto Marinho, and Parceiros da Educação. The results indicated that most of the councilors appointed in 2024 have relationships with private institutions, revealing a complex panorama of Brazilian education, in which the new councilors play an advisory role and act as agents of influence in policies that prioritize the interests of the ruling class. It concludes that it is essential that future research explore these networks of relationships between private entities and advisors appointed to the NEC, in order to identify their interference in Brazilian education.
